Redpath was contracted to construct a tunnel linking Chile (Pascua) and Argentina (Lama).

The Pascua portion of the project consisted mainly of the development of a 2,026 m tunnel section at 6.3 m x 5.5 m. A 1,679 m ramp at 5 m x 5 m was also developed. A variety of both underground and surface excavations were performed, totalling 12,600 m3 of surface excavations and 34,565 m3 of cavern excavations. Two course ore bins (L = 71 m; Ø 11m) were completed, along with related civil works.

The Lama position of the project included the excavation of a 2,270 m tunnel conveyor at 6.3 m x 5.5 m2 (+17%), and an additional 940 m tunnel conveyor. Related civil works were completed as required.
