Redpath Mining South Africa was the principal general contractor, providing bord-and-pillar mining, hybrid mechanized mining and ore transport to Maseve Mine.

Redpath’s scope of work consisted of long hole stoping, trackless development and bord and pillar mining operations including complete management of the mine's logistics and engineering function. Redpath carried out long hole stoping at Blocks 9 and 12 at the steeper dipping Merensky ore body and conducted bord and pillar mining operations at the high-grade Block 11.

Furthermore, Redpath managed the total logistics and engineering functions of Trackless Mobile Machinery (“TMM”) through an engineering hub. The hub was responsible for all maintenance-related work including
machine rebuilds and refurbishment.

Redpath also installed, operated and maintained a 1 km conveyor towards Block 11. This links into underground silos and the existing 1.4 km conveyor to surface, as well as the 1.7 km conveyor system into the mill. Previously, Redpath had successfully been providing efficient long hole mining services to Blocks 9 and 12.
